Lynx Project

I started this project back in 2017, after I have seen for the very first time two wild lynxes in 2016. An early morning I was driving to work when I suddenly saw two animals crossing the road around 300 meters in front of my car. The light was poor and I didn't realized what kind of animals I just have seen. The moment I got closer to the crossing point I slowed down my car to see if I can spot these animals.

There they stood, just five meters from the road; two wild lynxes were looking at me before they turned around and disappeared in the forrest.

From that moment the idea of my first photo project was born.

Yes!!! No quota is set for lynx hunt in my local area. Image is from the local newspaper "FRAMTID I NORD". 15th of December 2022 “Norway's lynx population is under the national goal of 65 family groups.” The quota hunt of the lynx in Norway takes place every year in February/March. First tracks of the lynx this winter

Fresh tracks of the lynx

I found new tracks of the lynx in our local forrest. 18th of April 2022 “There are a lot of things happen in the forrest when I'm not there.” I found new very fresh lynx tracks. More tracks of the lynx

I did a walk through our local forrest and found new tracks of the lynx. 14th of April 2022 “I found tracks of three different lynxes.” I found new tracks of the lynx not so far from the cabin and followed them for a while. New tracks of the lynx

Just about 100m from the cabin we found new fresh tracks of the lynx. 25th of March 2022 “My mother in law, Audhild, found new tracks of the lynx just over the road by the cabin.” I walked up to the tracks to check them out and found them just about 100 meters from the cabin. Another short visit of the lynx

The lynx with the black spots is back. 30th of December 2021 “On my way up to my camera trap I discovered lynx tracks on the path.” I followed these tracks and was hoping they will lead to my camera trap. A new lynx

Finally, my camera trap caught a image of a lynx again. 5th of December 2021 “Finally!!! After more than a year I got again an image of a lynx.” It's not the same lynx I watched the previous years. You can clearly see that this lynx has big black spots over the whole body, while the lynx from the previous years has just a few spots on the legs. This lynx visit my camera trap for a short time. Another visit of the female lynx

I'm always happy to see that the female lynx still is around. 27th of March 2020 “It's two months ago the female lynx visited my camera trap.” Another short visit of approximately 3 minutes. Short visit of a lynx

I got fooled by a lynx

I followed fresh tracks of a lynx, while the lynx was avoiding me. 11th of January 2020 “The day I got fooled by a lynx.” It was snowing during the whole night and the landscape was covered in snow. First sign of the lynx in 2020

Two lynx kittens

This winter the female lynx has 2 kittens. 12th - 13th of November 2019 “I'm happy to see the female lynx again after the summer season.” I was so happy when I checked my camera trap and discovered that the female lynx is back and this time with two kittens. Just some lynx tracks

I found some lynx tracks in our area. 4th of April 2019 “Walking through the forrest and searching for animal tracks is one of my favorite activities in winter time.” During the winter I spend many hours walking through the forrest in search of animal tracks. A visit of the female lynx

A short visit of the lynx, but still she showed up. 31st of March 2019 “The weather conditions were perfect, but this time just a short vist of the female lynx.” The landscape around my camera trap was just perfect. A whole bunch of images

This time I got more than 2000 images of the Eurasian lynx 27th of March 2019 “We had some bad weather with wind and snow.” We had some bad weather during the last days with a lot of wind and snow. The female lynx is back

Wow!!! A Family group

For the first time I got an image of 2 lynxes!!! 25th of January 2019 The first visit in 2019 and for the very first time I got an image of the female lynx with one kitten. They stayed for around 30 minutes before they disappeared in the night again. This time just images of my trail cam. First images with my Camera Trap

For the first time my camera trap was able to take several images of the Eurasian lynx. 3oth of March 2018 I just placed a new fox and it took just a couple of hours and the lynx showed up. The Lynx was just passing by and not interested in the fox.
