Lynx Project

I started this project back in 2017, after I have seen for the very first time two wild lynxes in 2016. An early morning I was driving to work when I suddenly saw two animals crossing the road around 300 meters in front of my car. The light was poor and I didn't realized what kind of animals I just have seen. The moment I got closer to the crossing point I slowed down my car to see if I can spot these animals.

There they stood, just five meters from the road; two wild lynxes were looking at me before they turned around and disappeared in the forrest.

From that moment the idea of my first photo project was born.

First tracks of the lynx this winter

I found the first fresh tracks of the lynx in this winter season 2022/2023. 10th of December 2022 “We got our first snow and the conditions are just perfect to discover the secrets of our local wildlife.” A few weeks ago I placed my camera trap and was on my way up to see if anything happened or if I needed to change some batteries. Fresh tracks of the lynx

I found new tracks of the lynx in our local forrest. 18th of April 2022 “There are a lot of things happen in the forrest when I'm not there.” I found new very fresh lynx tracks. The paw print in the snow was quite big so I believe they belong to a male lynx. Probably the same male lynx some visited my camera trap last year in December. More tracks of the lynx

I did a walk through our local forrest and found new tracks of the lynx. 14th of April 2022 “I found tracks of three different lynxes.” I found new tracks of the lynx not so far from the cabin and followed them for a while. Suddenly the tracks splits in two and I realized I followed a mother with her kitten. A bit later I even found a new track of a lynx which crossed the other two tracks. What a day. New tracks of the lynx

Just about 100m from the cabin we found new fresh tracks of the lynx. 25th of March 2022 “My mother in law, Audhild, found new tracks of the lynx just over the road by the cabin.” I walked up to the tracks to check them out and found them just about 100 meters from the cabin. Another visit of the female lynx

I'm always happy to see that the female lynx still is around. 27th of March 2020 “It's two months ago the female lynx visited my camera trap.” Another short visit of approximately 3 minutes. Short visit of a lynx

The first image of a lynx in 2020. 25th of January 2020 “The female lynx is back at my camera trap.” A very short visit at around 3:20 AM. I got fooled by a lynx

I followed fresh tracks of a lynx, while the lynx was avoiding me. 11th of January 2020 “The day I got fooled by a lynx.” It was snowing during the whole night and the landscape was covered in snow. First sign of the lynx in 2020

Two lynx kittens

This winter the female lynx has 2 kittens. 12th - 13th of November 2019 “I'm happy to see the female lynx again after the summer season.” I was so happy when I checked my camera trap and discovered that the female lynx is back and this time with two kittens. Just some lynx tracks

I found some lynx tracks in our area. 4th of April 2019 “Walking through the forrest and searching for animal tracks is one of my favorite activities in winter time.” During the winter I spend many hours walking through the forrest in search of animal tracks.
